I build the kind of website I wish I'd had.

A few years back, I was a small business owner with a Squarespace site, watching ugly competitor websites outrank me on Google.

I spent hours every week fussing with that site: tuning copy, swapping images, adding sections, removing sections. None of it made a difference. Every design decision came with a hidden cost: more bloat, slower pages, worse SEO. I was making thoughtful, user-minded choices for an algorithm that wasn't reading them.

So I learned to do it properly.

I taught myself Astro. It's a lightweight, open-source framework for building fast, modern websites without giving up control of your code or your hosting account. A site that loads instantly and looks the part is the ground floor; everything else builds on top.

Then I taught myself SEO, because what's the point of a beautiful site if no one finds it. I read everything I could on how search engines understand a page: what they reward, what they punish, what they ignore. I rebuilt my own site, watched it climb the rankings, and realized this was actually solvable.

I didn't learn web design in a university. I learned it the way a lot of small business owners learn things: by running into a problem until I couldn't stand it anymore, then figuring out how to fix it. That's the perspective I bring to every build.
